Jägermeister Maintains Quality with METTLER TOLEDO Checkweighers

Jägermeister is a traditional and popular alcoholic drink from the brand Mast-Jägermeister SE, known for its worldwide association with a joyful atmosphere with young adults.

Jägermeister has, behind its modern and trendy image, a very long and traditional history. Mast-Jägermeister SE has been producing Jägermeister since 1935. The drink is made from 56 herbs, blossoms and roots and has always been produced and bottled in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. The company also has production sites in Kamenz in Saxony and Wittmar near Wolfenbüttel in Lower Saxony.

Focus is on Quality Control

Quality is a key factor in Mast-Jägermeister AG’s success, especially given their strong brand. "Quality assurance is an extremely important subject in the Jägermeister production", explains Jens Rießen, head of the Kamenz plant. "Due to our strong brand reputation, we are committed to making sure that our customers will always get the very best quality", continues Riessen.

Jägermeister started production in Kamenz in 1996. METTLER TOLEDO supplied the dynamic checkweighing system for completeness checks in the end-of-line packaging process. This technology verifies the weight of cartons containing 1 litre or 0.04 litre bottles. Incomplete cartons or those containing bottles with too little content are detected and rejected from the production line. The checkweigher also immediately identifies bottles with leaks.

At the Kamenz site, over 20 million litres of Jägermeister are bottled per year. Since the facility opened, Mast-Jägermeister SE has relied on dynamic weighing solutions from METTLER TOLEDO.

Checkweighers from METTLER TOLEDO can be integrated into almost any production line and easily adapted to meet specific technical requirements. For example, two weighing terminals on two separate E Series checkweighers, integrated into different production lines, were installed side by side but operate from their separate weighing frames. This allows staff to control both machines from one location.

Cost Effective, State-of-the-Art Dynamic Weighing

The company has also installed an XE3 checkweigher from METTLER TOLEDO, weighing 60 cartons per minute. In this application the XE3 can weigh products up to 6000 grams with an accuracy of up to 1 gram. The XE3 automatically rejects underweight cartons with a pusher reject mechanism, enabling the line staff to check the carton and replace bottles where necessary. This process helps ensure only full bottles reach consumers.
