Degreasing Baths Use

In the metal component manufacturing industries, between the molding and blanking stages, parts often need to be degreased and cleaned. This process is carried out in special baths that run temperature ramps and ultrasonic cleaning steps. However, some of the solvents used are often lost during the procedure, resulting in a change in the concentration of the cleaning mixture that could cause sub-optimal cleaning.

Degreasing Bath Monitoring

To avoid significant deviations from the target concentration, a rapid determination of the degreasing bath mixture can be performed using refractive index (RI) directly in the production area. The R4 Excellence Refractometer can easily correlate the RI with a concentration result using a calibration curve, allowing the instrument to automatically inform the user how much oil or solvent must be added to the bath to re-establish the target concentration, resulting in optimal degreasing capability.
